About Us

The Smithers Art Gallery is a non-profit organisation at the heart of the local visual arts community and has been in operation since 1971. Our exhibitions change every 4-5 weeks and showcase the work of local and regional artists in solo and group shows. The Gallery regularly offers artists' talks and demonstrations, art classes and workshops, community art events, summer art camps, and free drop-in art activities for kids.

Admission is by donation.

Mission Statement

"Creating community through art"

Strategic Plan

In June 2015, we completed a comprehensive update to our first strategic plan which was published in 2011. Our new Strategic Plan 2015-2019: Creating Community Through Art will guide our planning and decision-making for four years, and continue to help us to develop a more efficient, effective, and productive system in which to operate. The plan aims to increase the diversity of our shows and events, increase public awareness of our organization and image, expand our programming, continue our community involvement and enrichment through art education, and increase our accessibility.
