“FACES” by MARK TWOROW
One-day-only exhibition of portraits!
Friday June 17, 2016
Opening reception 6-9pm
You won’t want to miss this 12-hour special show exhibiting Mark’s first ever collection of portrait paintings. Those who are acquainted with Mark’s well-known landscape paintings will recognize his unique colour interpretations and bold brushstrokes but see them applied to a new subject matter. The show will feature around 25 paintings of some very familiar faces from the Bulkley Valley.
The exhibition will be open 9am-9pm, with an opening reception from 6-9pm - all welcome, free admission, refreshments provided!
Location: dance studio, Central Park Building
I've had this series of uniform sized portraits underway for a year and a half. The show will feature about 25 paintings of faces. There are some differences in approach but overall there is a similarity in style and colour usage. The colour usage is often non literal, pinks, greens and purples. I hope to capture the feel of the person and at the same time make it an interesting painting.
Mark Tworow graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta College of Art in the 1990s. Mark paints landscapes, abstracts, and still lifes, and his paintings are known for their strong formal structure and lush painterly colours. He has held several major solo exhibitions showcasing over twenty works which are now held in private collections both here in Canada, the U.S., and in New Zealand.
