Mark Thibeault: "The Letter Red" (Main Gallery)
The Letter Red, is a collection of drawings, collage, acrylic and oil on various surfaces. Text and images are used in each piece to challenge our attachment to symbol. Words and letters, when viewed as a string of learned symbols, their order, inventory and implication, define us. Its undoing and repurposing leaves us vulnerable.
Mark Thibeault biography
Mark Thibeault is an instrument builder, musician, audio and visual artist. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Visual Arts from the University of Windsor in 1992. During his studies Mark combined visual and audio elements to create multi-media installations and performances. Mark continues to create and perform while building world-class instruments. A deep understanding of rhythm, line and space can be found in the instruments he designs, music he creates and in his paintings.
"Improvisation in music and abstractions in painting are surreal narratives where, in an instant, stories are pieced together. Distant yet familiar melodies and visions are tempered by a passing intuition. Seemingly disparate ideas are collected to find new meaning."
Michelle MacLeod (Mini Gallery)
Michelle will be showcasing a several paintings. The paintings were created out of recycled plywood and salvaged paint from landfills. She loves the idea of creating art from garbage.
