Beginning Silversmithing - Hot Connection

Level: Suitable for all levels. For adults and older youth (16+ yrs).

Location: Room 302, Smithers Secondary School


Learn the basics of silver soldering metal jewelry. This course will cover techniques, particularly hot connection, including: jewelry design, annealing, soldering with sheet and wire, pickling, use of dremels, sizing for rings, filing and polishing. Workshop cost is $40 members/$45 non-members per person, plus a materials fee of $25 and room rental fee of $10 per person – total fee: $75 members / $80 non-members. Monica Strimbold is a shop teacher who specializes in craft including woodworking and silversmithing. She learned large-scale metal processes at Trade school. She then learned silversmithing on the job and at a variety of workshops with notable silversmiths across BC.
