Clay - Handbuilding & Surface Treatment



Hand-building: Mon & Wed 7:00 - 9:30 PM (Sept 24,26, Oct. 1,3)
Glazing: Mon & Wed 7:00 - 9:30 PM (Oct 22, 24)
(15 hours instruction time)

Firing will be Oct 13, 27 - morning
Cost: $120 members / $130 non-members

The flexibility of hand building with clay offers endless opportunities for creating a variety of forms. This six session course will introduce students to the fundamental hand building techniques of pinching, coiling and slab building. Using these techniques students will create a range of forms, varying from functional ware to sculptural forms, and experiment with a range of techniques to explore texture and surface decoration. This course is an ideal introduction to experimenting with various handbuilding techniques.

Directions to the studio as well as a 'what to bring list' of everyday items will be emailed out during the week prior to the first session.

Workshop cost includes clay, glazing materials and firing costs for all sessions.

Suitability: Beginners Welcome! As well as anyone interested to continue learning about handbuilding and enjoys small groups of people passionate about clay and learning.
