The workshop will introduce participants to new mixed-media techniques, focusing on value, colour theory, design, texture, and collage. Suitable for any experience level!

Things to bring to collage into your artwork:
  • old maps
  • photos (photocopies, not originals)
  • old book pages
  • botanicals
  • textured fabric (natural fibre only)
  • burlap
  • old tea towels
  • textured wall paper
  • any other personal items and memorabilia

If they wish, participants are warmly invited to put their finished artwork into the Canada 150+: What's Your Story? exhibition in the Gallery and Museum, June 13-July 15, 2017!

Smithers Art Gallery and the Bulkley Valley Museum are excited to be collaborating on our project "Canada 150+: What's Your Story?", a community exhibition and series of thematic workshops through which we hope to engage and bring together our diverse community to build a better understanding of our different experiences and shared commonality.

This initiative is made possible by the Community Fund for Canada’s 150th, a collaboration between the Bulkley Valley Community Foundation, Babine Animal Hospital, the Bulkley Valley Community Arts Council, the Government of Canada, and extraordinary leaders from coast to coast to coast.
