Back 100 years ago, any scrap of material was torn into strips and hooked into useful mats and rugs. Scottish immigrants brought rug hooking to Nova Scotia (New Scotland) which is the home of and hub for Canada's rughooking resurgence, an artform that reaches worldwide.
Come out and learn this beautiful skill! We will use only 100% recycled wool to make a beautiful and useful chair pad, while repurposing natural materials and keeping them out of landfill sites.
Session 1: introduction to rug hooking - hook straight lines, squares and circles.
Session 2: Hook star for the points in the star and hook initials of participant
Session 3: Completion of project with pressing, whipping and binding.
